BrightComSol GmbH

BrightComSol GmbH is a nanotechnology spin-off from BOKU Wien with the mission to change the future of X-ray imaging. Scintillators are materials that convert X-rays to a flash of light that eventually construct an x-ray image. They exist in more than 80% of the flat panel x-ray detectors. Despite they have been around for more than 70 years they still make images with low resolution. BrightComSol is going to change this by making a new generation of scintillators that enable true high-resolution imaging. The product is a thin film that could replace the legacy scintillators in X-ray flat panel detectors. The technology is backed by one pending patent and several trade secrets. The pilot customer is testing the product and it is working. The product is on track to go to the market in mid-2023.

We make the next generation of scintillators for high-resolution x-ray imaging.

Enzyan Biocatalysis

Enzyan Biocatalysis is a spin-off of the University of Graz and acib GmbH and offers contract research in the field of biocatalysis and biocatalytic process development for the production of fine chemicals. In the course of this work, suitable biocatalysts are selected, and reaction conditions identified in order to optimize the quantity and quality of the desired product. In more complex systems - so-called cascades - several biocatalytic reactions run simultaneously and are thus more efficient than stepwise manufacturing processes. However, the components of a cascade influence each other, which makes their optimization very complex. A technology based on machine learning allows us to quickly achieve significant improvements in process performance with minimal experimental effort. This should make it easier for chemical and drug manufacturers to establish greener, safer and more efficient bioprocesses.

Enzyan designs and optimizes green solutions for chemical manufacturers to unlock new processes and accelerate costly and tedious developments.

Exalt

Personalized medicine aims to match the right drugs with the right patients by using specific features of the individual patients' tumors. EXALT is a single-cell functional precision medicine screening assay, that identifies personalized cancer therapies. In the first precision medicine trial using a functional device, EXALT demonstrated that treatments according to drug profiling at single-cell resolution bring a significant benefit to cancer patients.

EXALT offers two applications: Application 1 "Clear-My-Cancer", delivers a therapy profile for an individual cancer patient; Application 2 "Find-My-Cancer", provides a potential target disease for drug developers.

EXALT provides a new way cancer treatments are selected for individual patients.

Health Points - Creating a healthier life for everyone

We are creating health awareness and support for sustainable implementation of health-promoting behavior in everyday life by combining evidence-based knowledge with the latest digital capabilities.

Through a digitally supported, psychophysiological assessment in real life, both the current health behavior of a person in everyday life and its effects on the body are collected on the basis of a holistic health model. Based on this psychophysiological evaluation, targeted, individual and sustainable intervention options are offered to sustainably increase health literacy as well as positive health behavior. Supported by a continuous feedback system and integrated relapse prophylaxis this goal can be achieved.

The company is not yet founded. Currently patents are written. We are still in the teambuilding phase. A cofounder is looked for. In parallel, the technology is developed with three employees from TRL2 working on synthesis, battery construction and testing. The employees comprise a technician, a master student and a Postdoc(me). The research is performed in the laboratory of Prof. Stefan Freunberger at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA). Exclusive rights of IP will be handed over to the spin-off company.  An ERC-PoC grant is covering costs till end of 2023. The target of TRL4 will be reached by the end of 2023. Market analysis is performed. The technology will be suitable for the stationary battery market, which is a tremendously growing one.

Bull-ReM, heralding the next generation of safe, sustainable, efficient stationary energy storage based on all-organic redox-flow-batteries without Lithium, Cobalt, Vanadium, etc.
